When you look at growth you need to look at some sort of measurement in order to see the growth. How many of us when we were children had measurements marked on a wall or a door to keep track of your growth? You want to see growth, your parents what to see you grow and your grand parents keep saying to you, “look how much you gave grown”. Often we will begin to measure ourselves off of others in the natural in a good way and then in a bad way. People always try to measure themselves against someone who makes them look better. For example: Tall people measure themselves against smaller people and where weight is concerned, slightly overweight people will try to be around someone who is fatter than they are so they don’t feel so bad. Matthew 6:27 The Message (MSG) 27 “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? So the Word of God is saying forget the comparison or concern physically because there is something much more important to work on and that is your spiritual growth. To grow spiritually we have to imitate Jesus Christ, that is to walk and talk like Jesus. We need to conduct our lives like Jesus and speak like Jesus spoke. The apostle Paul said in.. 1 Corinthians 11:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV) Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ So to measure up spiritually against another brother of sister in Christ is biblical pattern. But we are only to do this as they imitate Christ.
